火山の噴煙、立ちこめる霧、雲、人為的に生成された揺らぐ蒸気を記録したものを取り扱う。これらは発生する原因が異なり、理解されるために言葉で定義されているものの、白い曖昧なものが視界を遮るように拡がるという視覚的経験は類似し、写真や映像に落とし込まれると、さらにその類似性を強める。
それぞれの記録の内容を明らかにするのではなく、情報を遮断する白い曖昧なものを視覚的に受けとめ、「霧」「噴煙」「自然と人為」等という名指しや括りを解き、現象そのものを視ることに拡がりを持たせたいと思った。そのために、それらの画像を用いて様々な支持体への転写や配置を行うことにより、どう表わすことができるか試みた。

This series consists of images of volcanic plumes, thick haze envelopes, clouds, and steam produced from man-made objects. Although they all have unique words and different origins, they have visual similarities: something white and fuzzy is spreading and obstructing the view. They look even more similar when seen in photographs and moving images.
My aim of this work was, not analyzing each recorded event, but handling the white fuzzy objects that often block the view. Moreover, I wanted to widen the viewer’s perspective by looking at the phenomenon itself, to transcend the various labels, such as “haze,” “volcanic plume,” or “nature and man-made”. I have tried various photo transfer methods and compositions with the images, to explore all the possibilities of display.
